Not Alone
So, I've been in California for 2 weeks now. I was journaling today at a little cafe in my neighborhood (Cafe Zucchero which I love), and thought I'd post a little of my entry here. Just some thoughts for the moment:Having this time, with no one to meet up with, really no where that I've committed to be, has been truly liberating. One half of me at times thinks, "this is really lonely." I say to the hostess, "Just one", or I look around at the friends that are together, laughing and planning their fiday night. I know that all of this will come in time.
The other half of me thinks, "how great to be here alone." I can take time to watch the water hit against the rocks or sand, look at a stack of silverware wrapped in napkins stacked like lincoln logs, or wonder who these people are that are eating at the table next to me. And do they know that they will never be alone if they know Jesus.
I'm seeing God today in the breeze that is moving a palm tree above me, and the beautiful clear day that has been given me to enjoy. The birds are singing and the cathedral bells are ringing in the background. These "small" things God has shown me today, help me to feel and see that I am certainly not alone. I can read in His word that He will never fosake me, but what pure evidence this is.
I need that evidence so much now. Even in these 2 weeks by myself here, He is teaching me. He is showing me inparticularly today, that my earthly aloneness can never match His heavenly nearness.
